He appears as an active participant in the ongoing culture wars. He does not use storytelling/narrative as a form of interpersonal communication. Instead, he is realized only in the acts of exaltation, self-declarations and occasional events. The followiing paper is a contribution to the multifaceted biography of the modern idea of the self. It poses existential questions: what about us in the times after narrative? What price must we pay for its cultural degradation? Biography, as the title metaphor, is an epistemological figure, which means that the considerations at stake here do not belong to the field of narratological, but genealogical research. Celem tego artykułu jest rekonstrukcja i interpretacja kulturowych procesów, które doprowadziły do pojawienia się na scenie nowoczesnego świata – tzw. społeczeństwa spektaklu – aktora o ekstatycznym i narcystycznym typie osobowości. Pojawia się on jako aktywny uczestnik to-czących się obecnie wojen kulturowych. Nie posługuje się opowiadaniem jako formą komunikacji międzyludzkiej. Realizuje się za to w aktach uniesienia, autodeklaracjach i okazjonalnych wydarzeniach. Tekst ma charakter przyczynku do wielowątkowej biografii nowoczesnej idei podmiotu. Stawia egzystencjalne pytania: co z nami w czasach po opowiadaniu? Jaką cenę musimy płacić za jego kulturową degradację?
