Sumario:Schopenhauer, who presents the thing-in-itself, which Kant thinks cannot be known, as 'will', explains that the will manifests itself gradually as inorganic nature, plants, animals and human beings, respectively, in a stepwise evolutionary process. He states that the ideas he takes from Plato correspond to these levels as the direct objectification of the will. The individual things that emerge as the representation of the subject are copies of prototypes called ideas. Schopenhauer, who also takes teleology from Aristotle, explains that nothing in nature is purposeless and meaningless, and that everything emerges in complete harmony, according to a purpose. Nature has given every living creature the organs and characteristics necessary to sustain its species. In this study, which focuses on Schopenhauer's thoughts on evolution and teleology, it is claimed that the philosopher, with his teleology based on the will as the real being and its uniqueness and timelessness, was in search of a third way against mechanism and theism, but could not present it consistently. Because, considering that the will is blind, that is, unconscious and ignorant, how it "foresees" what every living being will need cannot be answered consistently by the philosopher. The philosopher points out the timelessness of will, but this time the extinction of species creates a great contradiction.
