Knowing this connection between myopia and colour vision deficiency may help identify their common risk factors, underlying causes, or their prospective effects on ocular health that may require specialized care or therapies. This study was carried out to determine the prevalence of colour vision deficiency in mild or moderate degree of myopia among students of the University of Benin in Edo State, Nigeria. Method: This was a cross-sectional study of 50 students with mild or moderate myopia between the ages of 16-30 years (mean age: 22.18 ± 3.51). Tests of refraction were performed to identify the myopic participants. The Ishihara colour vision assessment test was used to perform the colour vision test on the myopic participants. Those who were not able to identify up to 13 plates or more were classified as colour vision deficient. Results: The results showed that 47 out of 50 Subjects were able to correctly identify all 24 plates of the Ishihara test. More so, all participants identified up to 13 plates and above, signifying that all of the myopes in the study had normal colour perception. Conclusion: We conclude from this study that there was no prevalence of colour vision deficiency in mild/moderate myopia.
