This approach is based on diachronic semantics and lexicology, on cultural history and on the use of digitised corpora, data provided by geolinguistics and contrastive linguistics. It focuses on the study of the origin of the locution «Gratar la tinya a algú» 'to hit someone'. It shows the possible Italian origin of this phraseological unit, first documented in the Curial e Güelfa and also present in Andreu Febrer's translation of Dant's Commedia. This has made it necessary to analyse the history, on the one hand, of the verb gratar in Catalan and the phraseology it has generated and, on the other, of the Italian locution «Grattare la tigna a qualcuno». It also shows how this locution must have spread in Catalan from diachronic dictionaries to some contemporary dictionaries and phraseological inventories and current literary texts. Aquest article assaja una via metodològica per a la recerca del component fraseològic en diacronia. Aquesta via recolza en la semàntica i la lexicologia diacròniques, en la història de la cultura i en l'aprofitament dels corpus digitalitzats i de les dades fornides per la geolingüística i de la lingüística contrastiva. Se centra en l'estudi de l'origen de la locució «Gratar la tinya a algú» 'pegar-li'. Mostra el possible origen italià d'aquesta unitat fraseològica, documentada per primera vegada en el Curial e Güelfa i present també en la traducció de la Commedia de Dant duta a terme per Andreu Febrer. Això ha exigit analitzar la història, d'una banda, del verb gratar en català i de la fraseologia que ha generat i, de l'altra, de la locució italiana «Grattare la tigna a qualcuno».
