In 1748, a series of earthquakes struck the Regne de València, with Montesa as one of the most affected areas. This paper analyzes several contemporary texts that document these events, including works by Vicent Ximeno and Esteban Félix Carrasco, as well as several anonymous printed materials. The religious, technical and social perspectives of these texts are examined, as well as their divergences, and the possible interdependence between the sources is discussed, especially in relation to the authorship of certain texts, so that a reflection is offered on the collective memory and textual transmission at the time.
