The Abbasid Caliphs used various titles at different times in order to adapt to the changing political and social conditions throughout history. These titles emphasise the diversity and breadth of the Caliphs' leadership roles. The period of the Abbasids initiated by Caliph al-Mu'tasim and lasted between 836 and 892 is called the “Sāmerrā Period”. As in other periods, the caliphs of the Sāmerrā period wanted to make their reign more effective by using titles and epithets. This study aims to examine the reflections of the Caliphate titles, which were a tradition used by all Abbasid Caliphs, on the Sāmerrā Period and to examine that they were not only a nickname, but also carried political, religious and cultural meanings. It also investigates the role of the titles of the Abbasid Caliphs of the Sāmerrā Period in symbols of power and political dynamics. Explanation of concepts, exemplifications and comparisons are used as methods. The main topic of discussion is the changes and developments in the titles of the Caliphs during the Sāmerrā period, and document analysis was carried out using qualitative research method centred on the main sources. pubtype: Academic Journal doctype: Article src: R language: Turkish refInfo: copyright: @attributes: flag: N holdings: @attributes: islocal: N |
