| Sumario: | New Perspectives on Community and the Modernist Subject offers new investigations of the modernist subject and its relation to community. Employing the concepts of finiteness, singularity, and exposure in Jean-Luc Nancy's theory, the volume redefines the modern individuals as singular, re-examines their various relations to the "inoperative communities" as well as traditional communities, and provides innovative readings of canonical modernist novels with a focus on the theme of "alternative communities."
