Sumario:The article presents preliminary results of a new stage of studying the multilayered Middle and Upper Paleolithic site Biryuchya Balka 2, located in the Seversky Donets River's lower reaches, the Don's largest right tributary. Based on the stratigraphy and correlation of paleosoils, the age of the lower part of the subaerial sedimentary sequence containing cultural horizons of the Middle Paleolithic is proposed to be revised. Morphological and analytical evidence makes it possible to attribute the formation of the chernozem-like paleosol at the base of the section to MIS 5 (not older than MIS 5c). Previously, this paleosol was dated to MIS 3. If the proposed stratigraphy is confirmed, significant changes should be expected in our understanding of the distribution of Middle Paleolithic industries of various types: both Micoquian/KMG and blade industries within the south of Eastern Europe and the North Caucasus.
În articol sunt discutate rezultatele preliminare ale noii etapei în studierea monumentului pluristratigrafic din paleoliticul mijlociu și superior Biriuchia Balka 2, aflat pe cursul de jos al r. Severskyi Donets. În baza stratigrafiei și corelării paleosolurilor propunem să fie revizuită vârsta părţii inferioare a succesiunii depunerii subaerale, ce conţine orizonturi culturale din epoca paleoliticului mijlociu. Particularităţile morfologice și analitice permit a atribui vârsta formării paleosolului cernoziomoid de la baza secţiunii la MIS 5 (nu mai vechi de MIS 5c). Anterior acest paleosol era atribuit la MIS 3. În cazul confirmării stratigrafiei propuse sunt de așteptat schimbări importante în cunoștinţele privind răspândirea industriilor paleolitice mijlocii cu aspect diferit: atât a Mikokianului/KMG, cât și a industriilor lamelare în limitele sudului Europei de Est și a Caucazului de Nord.
В статье приведены предварительные результаты нового этапа изучения многослойного памятника среднего и верхнего палеолита Бирючья Балка 2, расположенного в нижнем течении р. Северский Донец. На основании стратиграфии и корреляции палеопочв предлагается пересмотреть возраст нижней части субаэральной осадочной последовательности, содержащей культурные горизонты эпохи среднего палеолита. Морфологические и аналитические признаки позволяют отнести возраст формирования черноземовидной палеопочвы основания разреза к МИС 5 (не древнее МИС 5с). Ранее эту палеопочву относили к МИС 3. В случае подтверждения предлагаемой стратиграфии следует ожидать значительных изменений в представлении о распространении среднепалеолитических индустрий различного облика: как микока/KMG, так и пластинчатых индустрий, в пределах юга Восточной Европы и Северного Кавказа.
