As a relatively new field of knowledge, with boundaries that still require clearer definition, Museology remains subject to partial narratives that hinder its comprehensive understanding. This article provides a general overview of the topic, preparing people for future, more in-depth investigations. Its contents are based on analyses developed for a Master's thesis defended in 2024 within the Postgraduate Programme in Museology and Heritage, at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro/Museum of Astronomy and Related Sciences (PPG-PMUS, UNIRIO/MAST). It proposes a reflection on how museological theory interprets reality, grounded in a brief contextualisation of the narratives of critical and post-critical theory. The aim is to contribute to the epistemic framework of Museology through exploratory, descriptive, and qualitative research. By investigating the epistemic condition of postmodernity, the paper seeks to examine the premises of what might be termed 'Critical Museology'. It also explores the concept of Post-Critical Museology by integrating recent studies by international scholars, addressing interdisciplinary interactions and emerging academic perspectives. It aims to broaden the understanding of museological concepts - particularly by proposing new approaches that transcend the epistemic limits often imposed by dominant paradigms and unilateral perspectives. Pensar Museologia requer olhar o quadro epistêmico da contemporaneidade, buscando entendê-la como união de práticas e como modo de pensar o real que deriva num conjunto de estratégias específicas para interpretar a realidade. Por se tratar de um saber relativamente recente, com limites que ainda exigem definição mais clara, a Museologia está sujeita a narrativas parciais, que dificultam seu conhecimento mais abrangente. O artigo oferece uma visão geral sobre o tema, preparando as pessoas para investigações futuras mais aprofundadas. O texto se baseia em análises desenvolvidas para pesquisa de Dissertação, defendida em 2024 no âmbito do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Museologia e Patrimônio - PPG-PMUS, UNIRIO/MAST; e propõe refletir sobre os modos e formas através dos quais a teoria museológica interpreta o real, a partir de uma breve contextualização das narrativas da Teoria crítica e da Teoria pós-crítica. O objetivo é apresentar contribuições ao quadro epistêmico da Museologia usando como método a pesquisa exploratória, descritiva e qualitativa. Investigando a condição epistêmica da pós-modernidade, busca analisar as premissas do que se poderia chamar uma "Museologia Crítica"; e aborda o conceito de Museologia Pós-crítica integrando novos estudos de autores estrangeiros, com foco em interações interdisciplinares e novos olhares acadêmicos.
