Summary:Faith leaders are important community guides in issues of science and society, but few have formal scientific backgrounds. The Science for Seminaries project of the American Association for the Advancement of Science's Dialogue on Science, Ethics, and Religion program provides grants to seminaries to incorporate science engagement into the core theological education of future faith leaders. From 2014 to 2022, the project provided grants to fifty-four seminaries, which modified over 280 courses to include science topics from a variety of disciplines. A comprehensive evaluation of the project found significant positive impacts on seminaries' engagement with scientific topics, students' perception of science and connection with scientists, faculty engagement and networking, and project sustainability. The Science for Seminaries model has been shown to be an effective and impactful approach to equip faith leaders with needed skills and resources for engaging science in their ministry contexts.
