Sumario:The article focuses on Waterstone's Booksellers Ltd., which has received the Nielsen BookNet Supply Chain Initiative of the Year award at the Bookseller Retail Awards 2005. The company's successful implementation of the electronic point-of-sale system, Phoenix V9, across its branch network caught the attention of the Bookseller Retail Awards judges as a great example of supply chain discipline. At the heart of the stock management system is a centrally managed core range which is additionally tailored to the needs of individual stores. Combined with automatic replenishment, the tailored core range helps to give branches more time to develop their range of local interest titles, and actively to sell books.
