ab: This article reports that HarperCollins Publishers Inc. is giving away 70,000 copies of a big new Harper Perennial title, "The Mobile Library," by Ian Sansom, four months before publication in a promotion with the Times. The promotion, a first for both newspaper and publisher, will take place on October 10, 2005, well before the novel's publication next February. The book will be cover-mounted on the Times. Last summer HarperCollins ran a reading promotion in conjunction with WH Smith and the Times, offering literary paperbacks including Dava Sobel's Longitude for 99p to customers buying the Times or the Sunday Times.
