| Sumario: | Drawing from our previous and individual researches, we aim to put the spotlight on 'film-event', thus study the act of going to cinema, being at cinema, and experiences of the cinematic. While, such matters are situated at the intersection of public cultures, urban histories, material history of cinema, technologies, capital flows as well as histories of migration, travel and traffic of the cinematic, we foreground new subjects of enquiry: single-screens, place, publics and the intensity of cinephilia, in India. The attempt here is to thicken history of cinema in India by examining our collective experiences at the site of cinema-halls.
