The historical viewpoint is completed with recent applications of mathematics to create art in the digital era. Finally, the article contains a discussion about the possibility of the mathematical creation being considered artistic. El papel fundamental de las matemáticas como inspiración para los artistas, pero también como herramienta para la creación artística, se presenta en este trabajo siguiendo diferentes campos del arte, como la arquitectura, la escultura, la pintura, la fotografía, la literatura y la poesía, la cinematografía y la música. El punto de vista histórico se completa con aplicaciones recientes de las matemáticas para crear arte en la era digital. Por último, el artículo contiene un debate sobre la posibilidad de que la creación matemática sea considerada artística. Le rôle fondamental des mathématiques en tant qu'inspiration pour les artistes, mais aussi en tant qu'outil de création artistique, est présenté dans cet article en suivant différents domaines artistiques, tels que l'architecture, la sculpture, la peinture, la photographie, la littérature et la poésie, la réalisation de films et la musique. Le point de vue historique est complété par des applications récentes des mathématiques pour créer de l'art à l'ère numérique.
