| Sumario: | Background and Purpose: Patients commonly present to physical therapy with complex symptom presentations. However, the role physical therapists have in reducing diagnostic delays for autoimmune conditions is unclear. This case report examines the recognition of systemic symptoms leading to a concern for an autoimmune diagnosis and referral back to primary care provider (PCP) for additional workup. Clinical Findings: This case highlights the recognition of systemic symptoms such as fatigue, malaise, weight loss, and bilateral pain in multiple joints leading to referral back to PCP for further testing which resulted in diagnosis and treatment of polymyalgia rheumatica. Clinical Relevance: This case report highlights the importance of recognizing systemic symptoms leading to further lab workup allowing for accurate diagnosis and treatment. Conclusion: This case demonstrates the role physical therapists play in recognizing and assisting with management of autoimmune conditions.
