| Sumario: | Health care standards are established to support patient care that is safe, high-quality, and evidence-based. The Infant and Family Centered Developmental Care (IFCDC) standards (https://nicudesign.nd.edu/nicu-care-standards/) provide standards, competencies, and best practices to support the care of hospitalized infants and their families. These standards may be applied to all hospitalized infants, including those with severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). Infants with BPD typically require lengthy hospitalizations that may include transfer to a specialized Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) that provides care designed to support their medical and developmental needs specifically. In this paper, a gap analysis of a BPD program is described, which led to the implementation of IFCDC standards, competencies, and best practices within that unit.
