Sumario:Since few medication alternatives exist for benzodiazepines, atypical antipsychotics, and opioids, which are associated with side effects and complications in older adults, non-pharmacologic management and preventive care processes for delirium, dementia, insomnia, and pain are crucial. Function and mobility are positively impacted by an optimal care process. Evidence-based protocols for the care of older adults provide particular recommendations for non-pharmacological interventions and care process optimization, which are largely the domain of the clinical nursing workforce. Nursing leaders and specialists play a crucial role in operationalizing these critical interventions by providing structures, leadership support, and resources that facilitate optimal implementation.
