This study aimed to investigate the relationship between perceived organizational support (POS) and ProQOL among Iranian nurses. Methods: A cross‐sectional design was applied. Data were collected from 217 nurses at five hospitals in Iran from September 2022 to March 2023. Nurses were selected via proportional stratified random sampling. The research tools consisted of the General Data Form, the Survey of POS, and Professional Quality of Life Scale‐5 (ProQOL‐5). The data were analyzed using software program IBM SPSS, Version 24.0. Results: The mean score of POS was lower than average. Most nurses had compassion satisfaction (CS), burnout (BO), and secondary traumatic stress (STS) at a moderate level. A positive and significant correlation was determined between the POS and CS (r = 0.513, p < 0.001). Also, a negative and significant correlation was reported between POS and BO (r = −0.561, p < 0.001). By controlling the demographic characteristics of nurses, POS has a significant association with CS (B = 0.32, p < 0.001, R2 = 0.409) and BO (B = −0.31, p < 0.001, R2 = 0.386). The mean scores of POS, CS, and STS were significantly higher in female nurses than in male nurses. Male nurses had significantly higher BO compared to female nurses. Nurses working under compulsory service law reported significantly higher levels of POS compared to permanent nurses. Conclusion: Results showed that higher POS leads to higher CS and lower BO. According to the study results, it is suggested to carry out interventions in the hospitals in order to increase organizational support as an effective strategy to increase the quality of professional life among nurses. pubtype: Academic Journal doctype: research tables/charts Journal Article ougenre: Article language: English refInfo: holdings: @attributes: islocal: N |
