Information how nursing students spent their time on various activities in the clinical setting is significant, however, literature showed this is still poorly explored. Descriptive, time-use analysis design used, and self-administered activity diary, a notebook and personal mobile phones to daily record their time used in every task in the pediatric ward of one tertiary public hospital, within 24 hours exposure (in 3 days). Sixty-two accounts analyzed quantitatively from purposively sampled nursing students enrolled from two nursing schools. It showed that the average actual duty hours nursing student spent is 9.5 hours. Notably, it was found that more time spent in direct patient care compared to indirect patient care (330 mins vs. 300 mins (645 mins), and nursing documentation with the use of EMR consumed more time (average of 165 mins). Simulation of nursing documentation using EMRs is encouraged prior nursing students will be deployed in clinical placement. pubtype: Academic Journal doctype: proceedings research tables/charts Journal Article ougenre: Article language: English refInfo: holdings: @attributes: islocal: N |
