      ab: Purpose: This study seeks to conduct a quantitative assessment of the literature associated with "IoT." The Internet of Things (IoT) is a transformative technology revolutionizing various fields, including healthcare, transportation, agriculture, and smart cities. Consequently, a thorough scientometrics study was done using "Scopus" database. The data was then analysed to uncover opportunities for the stakeholders to know the research trend in publications of IoT. It also covers evolution, applications of IoT, gaps and future research. Design and Methodology: This study presents a scientometric analysis of global trends in IoT research using data extracted from Scopus databases using carefully crafted search string. The collected dataset was subsequently analysed using advanced, open-source bibliometric tools, specifically VoSviewer, MS Excel and Biblioshiny-R. The study identifies trends in publication outputs, prolific contributors, and emerging research themes while visualizing global collaboration networks and knowledge clusters. Findings: The study was focused on the publication during 2015–2024 (10 years) related to the IoT. Significant spurt in publications was observed in the year 2024 (1852 NP) and then in the year 2023 (1771 NP). The findings reveal exponential growth in IoT research, led by contributions from India. "Kumar N" is the highly impactful author with an h-index of 48, g-index of 86, and with 148 NP. "IEEE Internet of Things Journal" (284 NP with 11497 citations) is the most influential journal. The analysis of the data does not confirm to the Bradford's and Zipf's Law whereas it is consistent with Lotka's law. Originality: The paper aims to understand the scientometric landscape of articles published on IoT. The findings offer valuable insights for both researchers and learners. Beyond addressing a gap in the existing literature, the study serves as a crucial reference for those scholars keen on investigating the development and trends associated with IoT across the globe.
