| Sumario: | To understand the role of writing as a means to actualise identity and encourage collective transformation, this article reports on a study of an examination of a Chicano zinester who published 24 autobiographical narrative zines about fatherhood and radical parenting. Not bound by conventional publishing practices, zines serve as 'authentic' forms of writing that exist on the periphery of libraries, schools, and art. Given this ethos as nonmainstream publications, zines provide an opportunity to study writing as praxis; that is, writing to transform the world through reflection and action. Utilising qualitative methods, I analysed 19 of Tomas Moniz' Rad Dad zines to develop an understanding of writing as praxis and the manner in which he both problematised and enacted masculinity as part of his identity as a writer. Implications from this analysis shed light on the nuances of praxis actualised through the distribution of intensely personal writing.
