Sumario:The article focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of different fixational eye movement (FEMS) tasks in identifying concussion compared to orthopedic injury controls. The study involved measuring FEMS in patients with concussion and matched controls using a tracking scanning laser ophthalmoscope. Results indicated that fixational saccade amplitude and bivariate contour ellipse area (BCEA) were significantly larger in concussion patients when no central target stimulus was present, suggesting that precise fixation is more challenging after a concussion due to potential attention deficits. The findings underscore the utility of FEMS as a rapid assessment tool for concussion identification.
