Effects Of Age And Dual-tasking On Endurance Performance While Walking: 1432...American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Annual Meeting, May 27-30, 2025, Atlanta, Georgia.

The article focuses on the impact of aging and dual-tasking on endurance performance during the Six-Minute Walk Test (6MWT). It compares the performance of older adults (average age 78.9 years) and younger adults (average age 22.9 years) under single and dual-task conditions, where participants walk...

ab: The article focuses on the impact of aging and dual-tasking on endurance performance during the Six-Minute Walk Test (6MWT). It compares the performance of older adults (average age 78.9 years) and younger adults (average age 22.9 years) under single and dual-task conditions, where participants walked while answering conversational questions. Results indicated that younger adults showed a greater decline in walking distance and stride length when dual-tasking compared to older adults, who performed better in single-task conditions. The findings suggest that cognitive demands of dual-tasking affect endurance performance, with age-related factors influencing the ability to maintain performance during such tasks.
