Impact Of Tai Chi Practice On Fall Risk During Dual-task Stair Descent In Older Adults: 1435...American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Annual Meeting, May 27-30, 2025, Atlanta, Georgia.
The study investigates the impact of long-term Tai Chi (TC) practice on reducing fall risks in older adults during stair descent under dual-task (DT) conditions, which combine cognitive and physical demands. The research involved 30 older participants, including 15 TC practitioners with over 10 year...

The research involved 30 older participants, including 15 TC practitioners with over 10 years of experience and 15 non-exercising (NE) individuals, who descended a staircase while their movement patterns were analyzed. Results indicated that TC practitioners maintained better stability, as evidenced by smaller reductions in walking velocity, greater foot clearance, and more upright postures compared to NE participants. The findings suggest that TC practice may enhance stability and reduce fall risks in older adults when navigating challenging environments. pubtype: Academic Journal doctype: abstract proceedings research Journal Article ougenre: Unknown language: English refInfo: holdings: @attributes: islocal: N |
