Determining Quality Of A Squatting Movement Using Self-reflection: An Application Of Dynamic Systems: 1462...American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Annual Meeting, May 27-30, 2025, Atlanta, Georgia

The article focuses on quantifying the quality of human movement, specifically through the analysis of squatting motion (SQM) in relation to self-perception of movement. Using a dynamic systems viewpoint, the study involved 21 subjects who completed a modified Lower Extremity Functional Scale and pe...

ab: The article focuses on quantifying the quality of human movement, specifically through the analysis of squatting motion (SQM) in relation to self-perception of movement. Using a dynamic systems viewpoint, the study involved 21 subjects who completed a modified Lower Extremity Functional Scale and performed squats while fitted with a 3-D accelerometer. Results indicated that individuals with a higher self-perception of movement demonstrated more consistent SQM patterns, suggesting that self-perception may influence movement quality. The findings aim to provide therapists and coaches with tools to better assess and enhance movement performance.
