Sumario:The article focuses on the relationship between aerobic fitness and executive functioning (EF) in adolescents, highlighting its significance for cognitive development during a critical period of brain maturation. A study involving 36 adolescents assessed aerobic fitness through the PACER test and evaluated EF using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) alongside behavioral performance metrics. Results indicated that higher aerobic fitness was associated with improved EF task performance, faster reaction times, and more efficient neural activation in the prefrontal cortex, suggesting that aerobic activities may enhance cognitive abilities during adolescence. The findings underscore the importance of promoting aerobic fitness to support optimal cognitive development in young individuals.
