Literature is an art that owes its existence to language, to the national. It is unlikely that an art that, like literature, owes its existence to language, that is, to the nation, will cross paths with globalization, which aims to transcend the national. However, this perception has been turned inside out in the last quarter century. Because the language that built the nation, and therefore literature, has now evolved into a transnational dimension that serves the efforts to transcend the nation. Also a literary profile has been created whose name is mentioned with global literature. As a matter of fact, their names are at the top of the list of winners of many prestigious awards, especially the Nobel. In the final analysis, a kind of /current/genre/trend called global literature is being born around these literati, of course, with the support of the reader, the text, and the publisher. One of the most prominent authors among these names is Orhan Pamuk. According to many critics, Pamuk is one of the main writers who have developed within the global literary ecosystem. This article is written in the context of Orhan Pamuk's thesis that he has passed through local and national stages and turned into a global novelist based on his thoughts about his novelistic career and the art of the novel. Edebiyat ve küreselleşme kavramlarının bir arada kullanılması, başta yadırgatıcı gelebilir. Edebiyat gibi varlığını dile, yani ulusal olana borçlu bir sanatın ulusalı aşmayı hedefleyen küreselleşmeyle yolunun kesişmesi pek mümkün değildir. Oysa bu algı, son çeyrek asırda tersyüz olmuş durumdadır. Çünkü ulusu inşa eden dil ve dolayısıyla edebiyat, artık ulusu aşma çabalarına hizmet eden ulus ötesi bir boyuta evirilmiştir. Küreselleşmenin günahlarıyla ve sevaplarıyla dünyanın inatçı alın yazısına dönüştüğü son dönemlerde, bu tür sorular daha fazla sorulmaya başlandı. Çünkü adı küresel edebiyatla anılan bir edebiyatçı profili oluştu. Nitekim Nobel başta olmak üzere prestijli pek çok ödülü kazananlar listesinde onların ismi başlarda sayılıyor. Bugünlerde, çoğu ABD, İngiltere, Kanada, Almanya, Fransa gibi Batı kapitalizminin merkezi ülkelerinde yaşıyor, başta İngilizce olmak üzere Batı dillerinde yazıyor, kendi ana dilinde yazanlar ise eserlerini beş altı dile çevirtip aynı anda yayımlatıyor. Son tahlilde bu edebiyatçıların etrafında elbette okurun, metnin, yayıncının da desteğiyle küresel edebiyat diye bir tür/akım/janr/eğilim doğuyor. İşte bu isimler arasında en çok öne çıkan yazarlardan biri de Orhan Pamuk'tur. Birçok eleştirmene göre Pamuk, küresel edebiyat ekosisteminin içerisinde gelişmiş başlıca yazarlardan biridir.
