We adopt a qualitative interpretative phenomenological approach to explore the gendered experiences of Cape Verdean migrant women in Italy. Through a qualitative analysis of interviews, key themes emerge, including the importance of education, the challenges posed by intersectional discrimination (based on gender and race), and the value of multiculturalism and intercultural dialogue. The narratives reveal a strong connection to their culture of origin, coupled with the ability to adapt and engage with the Italian context, constructing a new identity rooted in autonomy and resilience. The participants also highlight the crucial role of female solidarity networks as tools for support and integration. This study underscores the need for inclusive policies that recognize skills and promote the full participation of migrant women in social and professional life, contributing to greater social cohesion.
