In developing this model, which focuses on strengths and weaknesses of both individual and community, I borrow from social capital, human capital, clinical psychology, and resiliency perspectives. The data source is administrative data of the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario. The results of this study show that ethnic origin and individual and community assets are fundamental factors in sociocultural integration. However, the most important factor for sociocultural integration of this group of newcomers is their individual assets. Inclusion of individual assets levels out the sociocultural differences associated with ethnic origins, entry status, and length of residency. In addition, the assets provided by the host community also play an important, albeit weaker, effect on the integration process. Furthermore, personal and community assets interact such that, the greater the community resources available to newcomers, the greater the impact of personal resources on the sociocultural integration of newcomers. Cet article explore les facteurs responsables de l'intégration socioculturelle de divers groupes de nouveaux arrivants. Pour élaborer ce modèle, qui met l'accent sur les forces et les faiblesses de l'individu et de la communauté, je m'inspire des perspectives du capital social, du capital humain, de la psychologie clinique et de la résilience. La source de données vient des données administratives du YMCA du sud-ouest de l'Ontario. Les résultats de cette étude montrent que l'origine ethnique et les atouts individuels et communautaires sont des facteurs fondamentaux de l'intégration socioculturelle.
