Communities living near water have made their living by fishing and have formed a deep bond with these creatures. Fishing, beyond simply being a source of food, also carries symbolic meanings in many cultures. In this context, fish are considered symbols of abundance and fertility in many belief systems, while in Turkish culture, they hold a significant place in mythological stories and traditions. In Turkish mythology, fish are seen as the source of life, a symbol of fertility and rebirth, and they also represent the connection between water and life. The aim of this study is to examine the historical, cultural, and symbolic meanings of the fish figure, revealing its place in Turkish ceramic art and how it is interpreted in the works of contemporary artists. In this context, a path extending from traditional understanding to contemporary artistic approaches was followed. The study adopted a qualitative research method; a literature review was used as the data collection tool, and the artists' works were examined visually and thematically. The obtained data were evaluated using descriptive analysis. Analyses of the fish figure, considering its formal, conceptual, and symbolic aspects, have revealed its relationship to both traditional mythological narratives and contemporary artistic expressions. Furthermore, formal and conceptual analyses of the fish figure have been conducted using selected examples from contemporary Turkish ceramic artists. Consequently, it has been determined that the fish figure is used not only as a decorative element in Turkish ceramic art but also as a symbolic element carrying cultural memory, and has been reinterpreted by different artists with various aesthetic perspectives. Tarih boyunca insanların beslenme ihtiyaçlarını karşılamak amacıyla avcılık önemli bir rol oynamıştır. Su kenarlarında yaşayan topluluklar, balık avlayarak geçimlerini sağlamış ve bu canlılarla derin bir bağ kurmuştur. Balık avcılığı, yalnızca bir besin kaynağı olmanın ötesinde, birçok kültürde sembolik anlamlar da taşımaktadır. Bu bağlamda balık, birçok inanç sisteminde bereketin ve doğurganlığın sembolü olarak kabul edilirken, Türk kültüründe ise mitolojik hikâyelerde ve geleneklerde önemli bir yer edinmiştir. Türk mitolojisinde balık; yaşamın kaynağı, bereketin ve yeniden doğuşun simgesi olarak görülmekte, aynı zamanda su ile yaşam arasındaki bağı temsil etmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, balık figürünün tarihsel, kültürel ve sembolik anlamlarını inceleyerek Türk seramik sanatındaki yerini ve günümüz sanatçılarının eserlerinde nasıl yorumlandığını ortaya koymaktır. Bu kapsamda, geleneksel anlayıştan çağdaş sanatsal yaklaşımlara uzanan bir izlek izlenmiştir. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemi benimsenmiş; veri toplama aracı olarak literatür taraması yapılmış ve sanatçıların eserleri görsel ve tematik açıdan incelenmiştir. Elde edilen veriler, betimsel analiz yöntemi kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Balık figürünün biçimsel, kavramsal ve simgesel yönleri dikkate alınarak yapılan analizlerde, geleneksel mitolojik anlatıların yanı sıra çağdaş sanatsal ifadelerle olan ilişkisi ortaya konmuştur. Ayrıca çağdaş Türk seramik sanatçılarına ait seçili örnekler üzerinden balık figürünün biçimsel ve kavramsal analizleri gerçekleştirilmiştir.
