        Este ensayo propone conectar el neo-Aztequismo jesuita en el siglo dieciocho con los debates actuales sobre la relación entre las antigüedades y el imperio, el ideal ilustrado del museo universalizante, y las prácticas museólogicas con respecto a la procedencia de los artefactos, su descripción y administración. Toma como punto de partida la Historia Antigua de México de Francisco Javier Clavijero y la Descripción histórica y cronológica de las dos piedras de Antonio de León y Gama; concluye con una discusión de dos películas mexícanas recientes que exploran las mismas cuestiones.
