Summary:An essay is presented which analyzes the historical significance of London, England. In the 1742 edition of "The Memoirs of the Extraordinary Life: Works and Discoveries of Martinus Scriblerus," which closes with a catalogue of the city, the author has made an attempt to highlight the happenings of the city in the last century. In the later part of the essay the author has analyzed the literary and social achievements of the city with reference to various authors and social scientists, who have appeared on the horizon in the period concerned.
