Sumario:The article describes the making of a performance project and staging of a William Shakespeare play, within the context of not only the practical but also the emblematic difficulties of Rio de Janeiro's play "Favelas." The author attempt to describe the process by which cultural work negotiated a temporary and largely symbolic cessation of conflict in a place where the usual regulatory means and social structures have failed.
