Methods/Activities * Educational Interventions: * On-the-Spot Goals: Collaborate with patients to set small, achievable goals, such as practicing sit-to-stand exercises or walking a few extra steps, to keep them motivated and engaged in their recovery. * ARNA RN Competency Standards: Use these standards to guide practice, ensuring the highest professional benchmarks are met and fostering self-reflection and improvement. * FIM Accreditation: Utilize the FIM instrument to gauge the severity of a patient's disability, tracking changes throughout the rehabilitation process. * Problem-Based Learning Approach: Employ a problem-based approach, utilizing interdisciplinary team resources and further studies to develop practice. Results/Findings * Educational Interventions: I found On-the-spot goals promoted active patient engagement, and the ARNA RN competency standards enhanced my practice by providing a structured framework for professional development. Discussion Educational interventions, including on-the-spot goals, ARNA RN competency standards and other interventions are vital for developing rehabilitation nursing skills. Integrating behaviour change theories and reflective practice fosters continuous professional growth, helping nurses adapt to patients' changing needs and improving clinical practice throughout the ward. Conclusion Embracing change through educational methods, professional development, and reflective practice enhances the resilience and capabilities of nurses who practice in the rehabilitation setting. Reflection on my own journey in rehabilitation nursing has allowed me to recognise learning moments as well as providing valuable insights that benefit the wider nursing community, aligning with the ARNA conference's goals. My next aim is to apply these learnings to an educational approach at the University of Canberra Hospital where I currently work. pubtype: Academic Journal doctype: abstract proceedings Journal Article ougenre: Article language: English refInfo: holdings: @attributes: islocal: N |
