More than half of library authorities are finding it hard to fill vacancies, and nearly 11,000 new recruits will be needed between now and 2015 if current service levels are to be maintained. MLA is currently devising a marketing campaign to help improve the image of libraries, highlighting the varied and creative nature of the job in the hope of attracting candidates to the profession.
