The patient, who had been taking these medications, presented with marked electrolyte imbalances, including hypernatremia and hyperchloremia, following a routine blood test. After discontinuing the medications and administering intravenous saline, her condition improved, and she was discharged after 12 days. The case highlights the importance of monitoring older adults for potential drug interactions and maintaining adequate fluid intake to prevent dehydration and electrolyte imbalances.
