While equivalent works from the Principality, preserved in poorly maintained manuscripts, often display errors in poetic form, the Valencian production exhibits a very high technical and aesthetic standard. Thanks to their dissemination through printing, they were able to spread beyond the Kingdom of Valencia and become known throughout the Catalanspeaking territories. En el procés de formació dels goigs, durant la primera meitat del segle XVI, semblen haver tingut un paper fonamental els poetes valencians, que s'hi dedicaren intensament a la saga de Bernat Fenollar; mentre els productes equivalents del Principat, conservats en manuscrits descurats, ofereixen molt sovint errors de preceptiva, la producció valenciana té un nivell tècnic i estètic molt alt.
