This article analyses the joint work in our national territory of the stage director and the playwright within the contemporary reading of a text by Calderón de la Barca in the 21st century. Enrique VIII y La cisma de Inglaterra was directed by Ignacio García with the figure of the dramaturg José Gabriel López-Antuñano in 2015 for the Compañía Nacional de Teatro Clásico (CNTC). As a result, this study will develop the main modifications of the source text and the stage codes of the contemporary reading of a classic theatrical text. En la actualidad de la puesta en escena nacional e internacional existe una tendencia escénica que aboga por realizar lecturas contemporáneas sobre textos teatrales pertenecientes al canon clásico. El presente artículo analiza la labor conjunta en nuestro territorio nacional del director escénico y el dramaturgista dentro de la lectura contemporánea de un texto de Calderón de la Barca en el siglo XXI. Enrique VIII y La cisma de Inglaterra fue dirigida por Ignacio García con la figura del dramaturgista José Gabriel López-Antuñano en 2015 para la Compañía Nacional de Teatro Clásico (CNTC).
