Today, AI-powered language models such as ChatGPT are widely used due to their features and the advantages they offer. However, some users perceive these tools as a potential threat to educational integrity and the preservation of academic purpose. This study examines the relationship between ChatGPT use, academic engagement, and life satisfaction among students of the Faculty of Tourism at Atatürk University. A structured questionnaire was used to collect 489 valid responses. The effects of ChatGPT use on students' academic engagement levels and life satisfaction were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The findings reveal that the use of ChatGPT has a positive and significant impact on academic engagement, and that increased academic engagement significantly enhances students’ life satisfaction. These results suggest that with the conscious use of AI-based technologies in educational settings, students can become more involved in academic processes and experience higher overall life satisfaction. In this context, it is recommended that universities promote initiatives aimed at increasing digital literacy and awareness of artificial intelligence. However, concerns about ChatGPT's potential to generate biased responses, its limited knowledge base, and lack of emotional intelligence raise questions about its reliability and can lead to disconnection in user interaction. These factors are considered among the primary weaknesses in terms of improving quality of life. Moreover, such limitations make the effectiveness of artificial intelligence particularly debatable in human-centered fields such as education and counseling. Yapay zeka, eğitimi birçok açıdan köklü biçimde dönüştürmüştür. Günümüzde ChatGPT gibi yapay zeka tabanlı dil modelleri, sundukları özellikler ve sağladıkları avantajlar sayesinde yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır. Bununla birlikte, bazı kullanıcılar bu tür araçları eğitimde dürüstlük ve amacın korunması açısından potansiyel bir tehdit olarak değerlendirmektedir. Bu çalışma, Atatürk Üniversitesi Turizm Fakültesi öğrencileri arasında ChatGPT kullanımı, akademik katılım ve yaşam memnuniyeti arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektedir. Araştırma kapsamında yapılandırılmış bir anket aracılığıyla 489 geçerli veri toplanmıştır. ChatGPT kullanımının öğrencilerin akademik katılım düzeyine ve yaşam memnuniyetine olan etkileri, Yapısal Eşitlik Modellemesi (SEM) ile analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular, ChatGPT kullanımının akademik katılım üzerinde olumlu ve anlamlı bir etkisinin olduğunu; akademik katılım düzeyinin artmasının ise öğrencilerin yaşam memnuniyetini anlamlı şekilde yükselttiğini göstermektedir. Bu sonuçlar, yapay zekâ tabanlı teknolojilerin eğitim ortamlarında bilinçli kullanımıyla öğrencilerin hem akademik süreçlere daha fazla dahil olabileceğini hem de genel yaşam doyumlarının artabileceğini ortaya koymaktadır. Bu bağlamda, üniversitelerde dijital okuryazarlık ve yapay zekâ farkındalığını artırmaya yönelik çalışmaların teşvik edilmesi önerilmektedir. Ancak ChatGPT’nin önyargılı yanıtlar verebilmesi, bilgi birikiminin sınırlı olması ve duygusal zekâdan yoksun oluşuna dair kaygılar, güvenilirliğini sorgulatmakta ve kullanıcıyla olan etkileşimde kopukluklara yol açmaktadır. Bu durumlar, yaşam kalitesini artırmadaki en temel zayıf yönler arasında değerlendirilmektedir.
