The historical commentary with bibliographical update that we offer on this treatise confirms that, with certain nuances, this reading is still valid in the face of those who in recent decades, encouraged by a certain revisionism, have seen in Xenophon a critic of the Lycurgan order--for some subtle, for others ruthless--both in ideals and in practice. Durante siglos, la Lakedaimoníon Politeía de Jenofonte venía siendo interpretada mayoritariamente como el opúsculo en el que el autor ateniense, considerado un laconófilo-- como buen socrático--, mostraba de manera más evidente su entusiasmo por unas leyes, instituciones y hábitos que la tradición atribuía a Licurgo y que hacían de Esparta el único lugar donde imperaba la excelencia moral.
