This study focuses on the resources mobilized, the stages of the journey and the methods of governance of this itinerant power, as well as the traces, often legendary, that this journey, in which the splendours of the Empire were displayed, left in people's memories. Après plusieurs tentatives avortées, les Fatimides s'emparent de l'Egypte en 969, où ils fondent une nouvelle capitale, Le Caire, pour recevoir le calife al-Mu'izz. Celui-ci quitte l'Ifriqiya en 972 pour gagner sa nouvelle résidence califale et commence un périple de plusieurs mois pour traverser le désert libyen.
