This is based on the analysis of post-mortem inventories of assets dated between the fourteenth century and the first third of the sixteenth century. The article considers the reason why this term was used to name a room of medieval housing; it also determines who were the citizens who owned houses with estudi; and it figures out the number that could have been in the same residence, as well as the place they occupied in the whole house.
