Impaired Motor Dual-Task Performance in Older Adults With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Its Association With Physical Activity: A Cross-Sectional Study.
Objective : To compare motor dual-task performance in older adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) relative to a control group and examine its relationship with physical activity. Methods : Fifty-four older adults (MMSE ≥ 24) completed the dual-task Timed Up and Go (TUGM) test. Physical activit...

Methods : Fifty-four older adults (MMSE ≥ 24) completed the dual-task Timed Up and Go (TUGM) test. Physical activity (PASE), comorbidity (modified Charlson Comorbidity Index, mCCI), and handgrip strength were assessed. Results : The T2DM group showed poorer TUGM performance (P < .05). Dual-task duration correlated positively with mCCI and negatively with PASE in both groups (P < .05). Conclusions : Higher comorbidity burden and lower physical activity are associated with impaired motor dual-task performance in older adults with T2DM. pubtype: Academic Journal doctype: research tables/charts Journal Article ougenre: Article language: English refInfo: holdings: @attributes: islocal: N |
