| Sumario: | The article discusses the importance of television broadcasting on geography education in the U.S. In 1954, direct-teaching programs in the field of geography have been a matter of experimentation, realizing that television, as an instructional aid, has unlimited possibilities. In relation to this realization, the In-School Program Committee has considered many type of programs. The selection of subject matter for the series, plans for each lesson, outlines for effective use of the televised programs by the viewing audience, and the writing of the script are the responsibility of the single teacher. However, good teaching by means of television requires the same kind of careful planning as good teaching in the classroom. On the other hand, this article points out essential steps to be considered in preparing to teach by television. It is essential for educators to consider type of lesson, purpose of television viewing, selection of the topic or subject matter to be developed, lesson planning, selection of visual aids and opening and closing remarks in conducting a television teaching strategy.
