Sumario:Objective: To analyze the indicators of introduction, diversity, frequency, and adequate consistency of complementary feeding in children aged 6 to 23 months and 29 days in a city in the Western Brazilian Amazon. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, data collection was carried out in 2016 and 2017. The Two-stage conglomerate was the methodology used for the sample calculation. The draw for the Basic Health Units was carried out first; the draw for people on the waiting list to be interviewed was carried out later. Data collection was carried out with the children's companions who attended the Basic Health Units during vaccination campaigns. The Poisson regression model with robust variance was used considering a significance level <5%. Results: A total of 688 interviews were conducted. Only 11.7% of children had food introduction as recommended by the Ministry of Health and low maternal education (Prevalence Ratio, PR: 1.62) was the associated factor. Only 9.0% of children had minimum dietary diversity, and maternal (PR: 1.12) and paternal (PR: 1.11) low education and low family income (PR: 0.9) were the associated factors. Regarding minimum frequency and adequate consistency, 42.3% of children achieved the recommended diversity, and the age of 6 to 11 months was related to non-compliance with this indicator (PR: 1.4). Conclusion: The indicators of complementary feeding in children aged 6 to 23 months are below the recommendations, with low maternal and paternal education, low family income, and age between 6 and 11 months as associated factors. To improve these results, joint actions of public policies and health services are essential.
