Additionally, the classification of liver trauma according to the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST) is mentioned, and questions related to the diagnosis and treatment of this type of injury are presented. El artículo presenta un caso clínico de una paciente femenina de 7 años que sufrió un traumatismo contuso en el costado derecho, lo que llevó a la realización de estudios de imagen para descartar lesiones. Se discuten las lesiones más comunes en trauma abdominal contuso, destacando el hígado como el órgano más afectado y la tomografía computada como la mejor modalidad para evaluar lesiones hepáticas.
