Objective: To analyze the sexual knowledge, attitudes, and practices of young people enrolled in the Basic Education program at the National University of Loja. Methods: A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study. The study population consisted of 290 students from the Basic Education program, with a sample of 165 participants. Data were collected using a survey, employing a validated questionnaire with a Cronbach’s alpha ranging between .971 and .949 across all sections, entitled "Sexual Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (CAPSEX). Results: The predominant age range was 18 to 23 years (89.1%), mostly women (78.8%) with heterosexual orientation (94.5%). A total of 64.2% reported having initiated their sexual life between the ages of 16 and 19 (82.1%). Likewise, most participants exhibited positive attitudes and practices; however, they "almost always" tended to believe that LGBTI individuals have a higher risk of transmitting STIs (26.1%), and "always" believed that child development is better with heterosexual parents (23.0%). In addition, they "never" feared pregnancy (33.3%) nor inquired about STI testing in their partners (50.3%). Conclusions: Finally, although young people demonstrate medium to high levels of knowledge, certain prejudices persist, reflecting the need for comprehensive education that eradicates stigma, promotes inclusion, and fosters responsible sexual attitudes and practices. Introducción: La sexualidad influye en la personalidad y actitudes a lo largo de toda la vida, siendo particularmente vulnerable durante la etapa de la adolescencia y juventud debido a las decisiones y prácticas inseguras que toman en su día a día. Objetivo: Analizar los conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas sexuales de los jóvenes de la carrera de Educación Básica de la Universidad Nacional de Loja. Métodos: Estudio con enfoque cuantitativo, de alcance descriptivo y tipo transversal, la población de estudio fueron 290 estudiantes de la Carrera de Educación Básica y la muestra de 165 participantes. Se empleó como técnica de recolección de datos la encuesta y para ello se utilizó un cuestionario validado y con un alfa de Cronbach en todas sus secciones que oscilan entre .971 y .949, denominado "Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas sexuales CAPSEX". Resultados: Prevalece el rango de edad de 18 a 23 años (89,1%), en su mayoría mujeres (78,8%) con orientación heterosexual (94,5%), el 64,2% indicó haber iniciado su vida sexual entre los 16 a 19 años (82,1%), así mismo, la mayor parte presentaron actitudes y prácticas positivas, sin embargo "casi siempre" suelen creer que las personas LGBTI tienen mayor riesgo de transmitir ETS (26,1%) y "siempre" creen que el desarrollo infantil es mejor con padres heterosexuales (23,0%), además "nunca" le temen al embarazo (33,3%), ni indagan sobre pruebas de ETS en sus parejas (50,3%).
