Sumario:Drawing on a nationally representative telephone survey of 3,053 Russian adults fielded in autumn 2023, this article probes the public's evaluation of generative artificial intelligence and readiness to share personal data for domestic AI development. Two survey-experimental framings reveal that job-loss cues slightly depress support for AI, while economic-growth cues do not increase support for AI. A neutral plurality signifies an uncrystallized opinion climate. Only one-quarter of respondents consent to data sharing, with willingness hinging on favorable AI attitudes, "catchup" technopatriotism, and personal interest in using AI--not on whether the recipient is a state or corporate actor. The findings refine the theories of authoritarian consent and citizen-state bargaining.
