| Sumario: | The dissertation "Architectures of the Uncanny: Kinetic Labyrinths of Horror in Film and Literature" by Marlen Freimuth examines the connection between the psychoanalytic concept of the uncanny and architectural semantics in films such as *Dark City* and *Cube* as well as in the novel *House of Leaves*. Freimuth demonstrates how uncanny spaces are characterized by movement, change, and labyrinthine structures, thereby generating fear—for example, through deconstructive architecture or kinetic spaces that are constantly transforming. In doing so, she also analyzes cinematic and literary techniques that make the uncanny spatially tangible and refers to concepts such as Derrida’s "Transarchitecture."
