Drawing on Edward Said's (1993) concept of contrapuntal reading, these rewritings engage with the western literary canon and reclaim their lost histories while confronting the forces of imperialism. Through techniques such as fragmentation, multiple perspectives, and narrative ingenuity, the texts critique the biases of the Western canon and assert alternative modes of cultural resistance.
